Legend has it that George Sand's father was brought to the Lion d'Argent, after falling from his horse, and that in the Middle Ages, the Lion d'Argent was where you had to pay the toll to enter the city, hence the reference to money in its name. This little inn has changed a lot since its days as a former posthouse, yet has managed to retain a sense of authenticity. It is now a 2-star hotel on one level, with "standard" and "garden" rooms overlooking a lovely lawn. All the rooms are fitted with queen-size beds, a mini-bar, a safe, a courtesy platter, a flat screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Our restaurant serves traditional local cuisine, including specialties like eggs "à la couille d'âne" (which translates literally as "with donkey balls"), calf's head (yes, you read that right: go on, we dare you try it!), pâté and potato cakes, and other traditional dishes brought bang up to date. The permanent, loyal Lion d'Argent staff all aim to keep ahead of our customers' whims, providing information on our services such as bike rides, excursions, the organisation of business meetings and seminars etc. Given our commitment to protecting the environment, we have also initiated proceedings to obtain an Ecolabel, cutting out needless waste and reintroducing common sense.
